Welcome!
Volunteers are at the heart of Delaware County Habitat for Humanity. Habitat brings together individuals and groups from faith institutions, corporations, educational, and community groups to work to ensure that all residents of Delaware county have a decent, affordable home. Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer!
First time volunteers need to attend a Habitat Orientation. Please print out the appropriate waiver form below, sign and bring with you to orientation:
Minor waiver (if you are under 18, you will need to have a parent/guardian's signature)
Adult waiver (18 and over)
How Can I Help?
Volunteering opportunities take place on and off the construction site.
- Individuals may sign up for events listed below after they have attended an orientation and completed the required paperwork.
- We welcome large groups as well. If you own a company or think that your organization would be interested in sponsoring a work day, please call. We are happy to schedule an orientation at your site, just let us know what works for you.
- Youth groups may help by volunteering to do landscaping in the spring, by holding a fundraiser to benefit Delaware County Habitat, or by building birdhouses, dog houses or benches for our homes. Let us know if you have other ideas of service projects!
- Youth United is a youth-led group (ages 5-25) that works together to help eliminate substandard housing in Delaware County. Youth United raised enough money through fundraisers to build a home! Youth meet monthly and volunteer during the year in a variety of ways.
- Our ReStore needs volunteers for customer service, stocking, etc. If you have free time during the day, a good driving record and a willingness to help, maybe you would like to volunteer as a driver. We pick up donations in Delaware and surrounding counties.
- Occasionally we need help with office work, or a special event. If this interests you,let us know and we will put your name on the contact list for any upcoming activities.
If you or your group has ideas for volunteering that are not listed, give us a call. We welcome new ideas.
Habitat’s committees are a great way to get involved. Sign up for a meeting or contact us for more information.
Family Support - Work in partnership with families throughout the Habitat program. This opportunity can include becoming a Habitat PAL (Partner/Advocate/Liaison), a rewarding experience that requires a longer commitment.
Family Selection - Help attract, review and choose partner families, read and evaluate credit reports, perform home visits and assist in the application process.
Construction - If you have interest/knowledge in construction, building materials, practices and codes, join our contruction committee and help manage all phases of home building.
Development - Through teamwork, ensure that Habitat can continue to provide quality, affordable housing. Work to get the word out to potential partner families, volunteers, donors and the general community.
ReStore - Help develop ways to promote the Restore to the public, contractors, and organizations.
If you are interested in any of the opportunities above, have questions or would like more information, please contact Carol Rencheck, Volunteer Coordinator at 740-363-9950 extension 222 or volunteer@habitatdelawareco.org
